Clean beauty, clean design. We are proud to finally share what we have been working on behind the scenes for so long: a beautiful new minimalist packaging design for our core skincare range. With this update, our iconic, certified natural formulas will be packaged in premium gloss white bottles with black twist lock pumps, which will make a beautiful addition to your bathroom shelf.

In a step towards reducing our environmental footprint we have improved our recyclability with kerbside recyclable bottles – they are now plastic grade 1! We will be increasing the volume of 11 products by 20%, 100ml bottles will be increasing to 120mls and 50ml bottles increasing to 60mls. We will also be increasing the pricing of these same 11 products by no more than 10%. We believe this is the best step forward to allow us to continue providing high quality, New Zealand made natural products while ensuring the ongoing viability of the brand.

The boxes have also had an upgrade, moving to a minimalistic black and white with gold foil accents. Selected with care, the sustainable PEFC certified card is 100% recyclable and contains no toxins or elemental chlorine bleaches.

To avoid packaging wastage, we will be gradually phasing in the new designs as the old packaging runs out (Hydrating Toning Gel is available now!). You may notice some inconsistencies online or in stores, but please bear with us as we bring these changes to you. We will announce them as they become available in New Zealand.

With this packaging update, we continue to uphold our 5 overarching values of brand heritage, native New Zealand ingredients, global certifications, sustainability, and premium design; together these create our circle of trust. When you see our logo on a product, you can trust that it has been crafted with absolute integrity to nurture your skin, care for your health, and protect your planet, based on the philosophy of ‘purity made simple’.

Q + A

Are you increasing your pricing?
Yes we are increasing our pricing across 11 products in our range by a maximum of 10%, however we have also increased the volume of the same 11 skus by 20% to offer better value. We believe this is the best step forward to allow us to continue providing high quality, New Zealand made natural products while ensuring the ongoing viability of the brand.

Why did you not change to glass bottles?
Glass poses a greater risk at breaking within our production facility and during transport, in addition to being more expensive and much heavier than plastic.

Living Nature are taking steps to improve our environmental footprint by changing our plastic bottles from PP (plastic grade 5) to PET bottles (plastic grade 1), as PET is more easily recycled. We do have future plans to further improve on the type of plastic we use; this initial change is the first step.

Living Nature’s serum range and pure shades foundation range are available in glass bottles.

Is the new box packaging sustainable?
Living Nature’s new outer packaging is made from soy based inks printed on sustainable PEFC certified card, which is 100% recyclable and contains no toxins or elemental chlorine bleaches. PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems. This non-profit organisation is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. Tracing material through the supply chain from forest to the end consumer, PEFC works to ensure forests are protected and maintained for future generations.

Hi Nicole, thank you for your message. Our previous packaging was PP (plastic grade 5), not a sugar-based plastic, and unfortunately, it was not kerbside recyclable in New Zealand recycling facilities. Our new bottles are PET (plastic grade 1) which is more easily recycled. We do hope to further improve on the type of plastic we use (such as post-consumer recycled plastic); this initial change is the first step.

Hi Ann, thank you so much for your comment, we really appreciate your support!

I thought your previous packaging was sugar based plastic and better for environment? Creating new plastic to enter the plastic pool – I can’t understand how that’s good for the environment? Wouldn’t it be better for you to use post-consumer recycled plastic?

Thank you for changing your packaging to more environmentally disposable options. Larger sizes also means less packaging too. Much appreciated.
